Meet the Doctors of Complete Dental Madison

Dr. Brandon Chambless, DMD, MPH

Dr. Brandon Chambless is a native of Jasper, AL, and a graduate of Walker High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Alabama, and earned a master’s degree in public health from the UAB School of Public Health. He obtained his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the UAB School of Dentistry. While in dental school, Dr. Chambless won the Quintessence Award for Excellence in Research and was selected to represent UAB during an international exchange with Meikai University in Tokyo.

Dr. Chambless is constantly working to further his dental knowledge by attending continuing education classes in excess of what the state board requires, completing over 1300 hours of continuing education to date. He has attended numerous orthodontic classes since graduation, including the Progressive Orthodontic Seminars, which includes over 380 hours of study. In 2008, Dr. Chambless completed the Medical College of Georgia‘s Implant Maxi-Course, which focused solely on implant placement and implant restorations. Due to Dr. Chambless performance in the Maxi-Course, he was one of a select group invited back to attend the Advanced Prosthetic portion of the class.
In July of 2010, Dr. Chambless was awarded his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. This level of achievement is awarded to dentists who have passed a 250 question national exam covering all aspects of general dentistry and who have in excess of 500 hours of continuing education. In October of 2010, Dr. Chambless was also awarded his Associate-Fellowship in the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. This honor is only awarded to dentists who have passed a 150 question written examination and who have orally presented cases to the Academy board in Chicago.
During the summer of 2012, Dr. Chambless attained his IV sedation permit at UAB. He attended over 60 hours of lecture and spent a week in the UAB oral surgery clinic sedating over 20 patients. Dr. Chambless is currently one of the few dentists in our area that is able to offer oral and IV sedation to his patients.

Dr. Jason Selman, DMD

A native of Jasper, Alabama, Dr. Jason Selman graduated from Walker High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the UAB School of Dentistry. Dr. Selman is also a graduate of the prestigious Las Vegas Institute of Cosmetic Dentistry. He received numerous honors in Cosmetic Dentistry for completing three full mouth reconstructions. Dr. Selman attended the Academy of General Dentistry where he received botox and dermal filler therapy training.

 

Dr. Selman’s implant journey began over 15 years ago at UAB School of Dentistry where he received many hours of training on Implants.

 

He attended the Academy of Implant Dentistry where he furthered his education on courses related to Bone Grafting and Implants. Dr. Selman also attended state of the art classes at Pikos Institute in Florida where he completed several hands on courses on Full Arch Immediate Implant Reconstruction. Other courses include: The Ultimate Graft Course-Techniques and Biology for hard and soft tissue grafting for optimal single tooth, and Full Arch Implant Reconstruction, Guided full Arch Immediate Implant Reconstruction-Prosthetic and Surgical protocol, and Optimizing Osseo densification and site-specific Implants. Dr. Selman has attended courses in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Louisiana, Kentucky, and Canada.

 

Dr. Douglas Hammond, DMD, MSD

Dr. Douglas Hammond was born and raised in Decatur, AL. He graduated from Austin High School and is married to the former Gayle Wilkerson of Birmingham. They have two school aged children, Lauren and Nicholas.

 

Dr. Hammond received his B.S. degree with high honors from Auburn University in 1979, majoring in chemistry. He was accepted at UAB School of Dentistry after three years of college. During his senior year of dental school, Dr. Hammond was named Best All Around Male Student by the Pedodontic Department. Upon graduation from dental school in 1982, he completed a year long residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Birmingham, which included rotations in Oral Surgery and Periodontics. He received his Masters of Science in Periodontics in 1986 from Indiana University School of Dentistry. His masters thesis was entitled, Long-term Effects of Orthodontic Treatment on Periodontal Health Status. While in his residency, he published an article on Treatment of Medically Compromised Patients. Upon graduation, he returned to North Alabama and established his periodontal practice in 1986.

 

Dr. Hammond and his staff have continued to provide a full range of periodontal services for over twenty years. In 1993, conscious I.V. sedation was incorporated into the practice to provide increased patient safety and comfort during all procedures. Dr. Hammond and his clinical staff are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. They are examined by the Board of Dental Examiners on a regular basis to assure effectiveness and competency in management of medical emergencies should they arise.

 

In recent years there has been a paradigm shift in periodontics to include periodontal surgery and dental implants. The aesthetic enhancement of periodontal plastic soft tissues to improve a patient’s smile and complement restorative procedures can now be performed with increased predictability and comfort. Dr. Hammond has completed an intensive mini-residency in the surgical and prosthetic aspects of dental implants at the Misch International Implant Institute in Detroit, MI. He also completed intensive continuing education and is a Recognized Specialist at the renowned Kois Center in Seattle, WA. This qualifies him to participate in the planning as well as placement of dental implants.

 

Dr. Hammond and his staff feel state of the art technology is also an essential part of being able to provide the highest level of service. Utilizing computer assisted digital x-rays increases the diagnostic capabilities of x-rays, while decreasing radiation exposure. This practice is also one of the few in Alabama to offer in-office Cone-Beam CT scanning capabilities. This allows for immediate and accurate assessment of bone volume in preparation for safe and predictable implant therapy.

 

Dr. Hammond maintains a membership in the American Academy of Periodontology, the Southern Academy of Periodontology, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantology. He is an Associate Fellow of the Academy of Implant Dentistry, and a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology. Dr. Hammond is also one of the few implant dentists in Alabama to achieve Diplomate status in the American Board of Oral Implantology. He is absolutely committed to providing the exceptional, state of the art periodontal and implant therapy for which this practice has been known.

Dr. Jake Mimms, DMD

Dr. Jake Mimms grew up in Monrovia, Alabama and graduated from Sparkman High School. While attending the medical academy he decided he wanted to be a dentist. He attended the University of Alabama where he received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, and graduated summa cum laude. He then received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. After he graduated from dental school he completed a one year course in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the University of Tennessee Health and Science Center. While in Memphis, Dr. Mimms worked in public health and completed basic implant training. He then completed another year of Advanced Educations in General Dentistry at the Foundry Dental Center in Bessemer, Alabama where he focused on advance implant restorations, surgery, and sedation dentistry. 

 

Dr. Mimms moved back to the Madison area and started working for Complete Dental after graduation. He recently married the love of his life, and they are enjoying their life together. They currently attend Madison Church of Christ. His hobbies include cooking, hunting, fishing, and computer games. Dr. Mimms has a twin brother who lives in Birmingham who is also a dentist. Dr. Mimms and his twin brother are the first dentists in their family. He also has a younger brother who is currently getting his masters degree in computer science at the University of Alabama. After graduation his younger brother plans to move back to the Madison area. Dr. Mimms parents both work in the defense industry and his extended family lives in western Kentucky.

Dr. Murray Dickson, DMD, MBA

Dr. Murray Dickson has been producing beautiful smiles since April 2005. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa before earning his Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. Dr. Dickson went on to the University of Texas, San Antonio, where he graduated with his MBA and completed his Orthodontic Specialty training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. 

 

Dr. Dickson is committed to providing his patients with the highest quality of dental care in the most state-of-the-art office. 

He married his high school sweetheart, Rebecca, and adopted a baby boy in December 2011. In addition to his private practice, he serves on staff with the Children’s Rehab Service Cleft Palate Clinic in Huntsville.

DR. ADAIRA COLLINS, DDS

Dr. Adaira Collins is a native of Fort Worth, Texas, and currently resides in Madison, AL. Dr. Collins attended Meharry Medical College, School of Dentistry in Nashville, Tennessee, where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2007. She was the president of her Senior class, president of the American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD)-Meharry student chapter, and an Ambassador for Meharry’s philanthropic Circle of Friends. She also organized and participated in Community outreach programs during her position as Miss School of Dentistry 2005-2006 in Nashville, TN.

 

As a third-year dental student, Dr. Collins was selected from hundreds of applicants to participate in the Junior Commissioned Officer Student Training and Extern Program (JRCOSTEP). The Indian Health Services Division of the U.S Department of Health and Human Services stationed Dr. Collins at Indian Reservation clinic in White Earth Minnesota for six weeks. The experience afforded Dr. Collins the opportunity to expand her cultural diversity of dental experience. 

 

Dr. Collins is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA) and the Academy of General Dentists (AGD); recently her memberships have been transferred to the local affiliates. She is certified in Laser Dentistry by Waterlase and Conscious Sedation dentistry. She regularly attends continuing education seminars to enhance her ability to serve patients. 

 

Dr. Collins received a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Oakwood College (now Oakwood University) in May 2003. She is the wife of Cedric Collins and the proud mother of 3 children. She is a member of First SDA Church of Huntsville, Junior League of Huntsville and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. She enjoys road-trips, DIY home projects and photography/graphic design.
